There are many strains of HPV.
Only some of those strains tend to cause cancer.
The HPV vaccines only protect against a few strains, all of which are the dangerous kind.
Different populations frequently catch different strains of a disease.
Black people tend to catch different strains of HPV than white people.
Plenty of those are dangerous.
This was not examined when producing the vaccine or deciding which strains to inoculate against.
That was probably not deliberate, but the thoughtlessness leaves black people open to infection while thinking they are protected if they have had the shots.
According to the CDC itself, 70% of people contract HPV at some point. Most are unaware of it.
Some of these people will be black.
Some of these people would have been protected if they had considered race when determining the strains for which they should vaccinate.
